Nicotine and other chemicals in cigarettes can contribute to wrinkles and premature aging of the skin. Nicotine causes blood vessels to narrow, reducing oxygen flow and nutrients to skin cells.
Some chemicals in tobacco smoke trigger the destruction of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are the fibers that give your skin its strength and elasticity. This can cause sagging of skin.
Smoking has also been linked with a higher risk of acne.

Soft cleansing brushes are a better delicate option. Using clean fingers to massage a cleanser into the face may help prevent extra irritation.
Use gentle products for your skin. Products that commonly irritate sensitive skin include:

It is also important to minimize stress whenever possible. Strong feelings of anger or emotional stress may lead to an acne breakout or make symptoms worse.
Skin makes new collagen when you sleep, which prevents sagging. Not getting enough sleep may also cause acne breakouts. To stay healthy both on the inside and out, aim for seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night.
